Branded apps, website modules, and original content for National Geographic
Since 1888, the National Geographic Society has been dedicated to saving wildlife, protecting the ocean, funding scientific discovery, and expanding our understanding of the world. Design Alliance was honored to art direct and design three educational software apps for National Geographic: MAPS: The Complete Collection, MAPS: The War Series, and Trip-Planner.
We designed the app’s user experience and user interface (UX/UI) and created 20 original short videos highlighting map series themes and features of specific maps.
in addition to our work on National Geographic’s apps and website, we worked on concepts and designs for new products pitched to the National Geographic Society Board of Directors, including Geographica, a subscription-based digital content series.
We also designed web modules for the National Geographic website, including a redesign of the development/fundraising area of the site.
The MAPS app was named Best New Software Product of the Year by the SIIA CODiE Awards and was one of only 100 new items selected for inclusion in the Smithsonian Institution’s permanent collection.
